My husband and I are thinking about starting our own hobby farm in a few years here in North Central SD. Is there anyone in SD or ND that already has a hobby farm we might be able to visit with?

You can come and visit us!  We live in Maurine.  A little west of north central SD, but maybe within driving distance.

We have 15 acres with chickens, guineas, horses, cows, and the sweetest LGD (Great Pyrenees) you ever wanted to meet.  He's doing a fabulous job of keeping the foxes and other varmints away from our poultry.  I milk one cow, and will be breeding her heifer calf this month, so I'll have two in milk next summer.  I also keep a garden, which until we got the LGD was a dismal failure due to deer and rabbits, but this summer, I'm actually HARVESTING some things!  Yay!

Anyway, we love to have visitors, and believe me, we've made just about every mistake there is to make, and have found ways around them.  If you're just starting out with this, we might be a couple of people you'd like to talk to about it!  LOL!
