Any tips for stretching field fence for cattle

i have seen alot of old farmers use 2 pieces of 2x4 cut the height of the fence you put the fence between the 2 boards and bolt the 2 boards together in several places about 5-7 bolts. then use a chain around the boards and pull the fence tight with a tractor the boards distribute the pull across the fence so you stretch it evenly..

| Go with the 2x4's and the come along. My dad had a factory made device that did the exact same thing as the boards but you hooked it to the back of a tractor. The 2x4's will stretch the fence evenly and you can attach the come along to a tractor, truck, or atv. A chain attached to a tractor and the boards lets you pull up a long stretch of fence. The come along works great for small sections. Try not to attach the come along to another post because if you break the wood post, then you have even more work to do.

| Benjam is correct. the 2x4's work best. I have about a rod of red brand to put up my self.
