| Oh...I wouldn't like angry bees in a car either!! I once had a fire extinguisher go off in one while driving and that was tough enough! Mary Ann

not many farmers around me drive a Old truck as their go to town vehicle. most have a "family car" that is a 4 door sedan bought used. they own it for the gas mileage and the insurance break.
Those who do are either doing really well or doing so bad they can't buy a used sedan for the gas mileage. Most simply happen to live close enough to town that it really does not matter for them.
I have a 4 door 4 banger for running into town. They bring costs down SOOOOO much its just impossible to not have one now. If they were banned from the roads I would still cling to mine tighter than the NRA clings to their old guns.

| You know, I have often thought about getting to gether with friends and family, and going in together to get one good truck that know one would use for daily transportation. It would only be used for getting lumber, hauling firewood, getting feed, moving furniture...ect. Has anyone ever thought about doing anything like this?

| I have a Ford Sport Trac which I love. Except for the gas mileage. It comes in so handy when I want to haul wood, straw, leaves, manure, furinture, whatever. I do hate the gas mileage, but when my wife and I go somewhere together, or either of us goes somewhere alone, we always drive the car. If we both need to go out ,whoever is driving the farthest distance takes the car. In that way we reduce the pain of the truck's bad gas mileage. We use the car whenever we can, and I've been surprised at times how much stuff will actually fit in the car (2005 Hyundai Sonata). When the Sport Trac finally dies I will probably get a 4 cylinder Ford Ranger. Despite the bad gas mileage I would really hate to be without a truck.

yes it was a total Flop.
Ask Draw about this kind of thing... every time one person wants to get something on a nice sunny day...so does every other person. My father and I tried it. But every time I had to haul stone, he had to haul equipment.
Then I tried to just haul things for him....and never got my own work done.
ended up with 2 trucks

Ok I finally found my trunk limit today It's 100lbs scratch feed, 2 big bags from salvation army, 1 big & 1 small bag from Goodwill, 4 bags from Big Lots, I bag from Borders & 1 Queen size headboard. When daughter & I put the headboard in we had to bungie the trunk shut.
Lord keep you arm around my shoulder & your hand over my mouth If God brings you to it, He will see you through it 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

| We have a Focus wagon that we use to carry all sorts of supplies, and having the Wagon version will help out a lot with getting our first goats next spring.

| ok, a Focuse too me as a farmer is a new truck.. too new for farming. How can you justify a car/truck so new for farming? To me a farm truck is that old car you used to drive, in the same way you put on a pair of 5 Y/o Sunday-go-meet'n Pants to feed the chickens after you aquire a new pair. No ofence. I'm just asking.. how can you haul pigs and corn and all that in your car and then drive to the job tha suports your farm? Have 3 cars, presume'n the Mrs has one to? here we have farm truck tags. A truck can be kept for farm use, but farm use only. You can't take it further than 20 miles from the farm and you can't take it to the mall or out to dinner. It needs breaks, lights and a seatbelt. That's all. This makes it more afordable for us farmers.
