Our family is looking to build a duck house for our lil cayuga duck. We want it big enough to house atleast 2 as we will be getting another one when we find one. We are looking to make an "eco smart" duck house. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

That's a great question. I want to know also. I have 4 Cayugas.. they are about 14 months old. I also need to build a pen for them as they have the run of my yard.

We have two of the same ducks and we used an old camper topper up on some straw bails. We aranged the bails to go all the way around with a small opening at the front. Close windows in winter and open them for summer.

If you already have chickens the ducks should go in and use the floor and the chickens roost on whatever you have. Ours love to sleep outside and only go in when we have a raccoon problem and we make them go in. They even love to play in the rain.
Our chickens inherited the old 10 x 12 shed and the ducks do well with them. The only problem we have had is a drake duck that tried to abuse a rooster 3 times his size.
