Hello everyone,

I’m a new member of the moderation team. I'm the Hobby Farms Community Moderator. My position is to work on moderating the forums and My Farm profiles each day on all of the BowTie, Inc. websites. I’ll be working with the other moderators also to keep our forum environments friendly, helping to move topics if posted in the wrong area and enforcing the Forum Rules. If you have any concerns or find a post/thread violating our forum rules and guidelines, please feel free to send me a PM. I look forward to becoming a part of the Hobby Farms community.

Thanks!

Hello, do you have a name?

Why have you decided to shut several discussions down that directly concern people that are living and concidering living the hobby farm/ farmstead lifestyle? I am specifically talking about the health insurance topic.

I think you should reopen it.

I hope that the changes/updates to the forum includes an "off-topic" area.  Although some of the recent discussions have seemed to not be about farming, they do impact hobby farmer's lives, therefore they are important to us.  I, personally, have a lot more sides to me than farming.

If the recent discussions are closed down because they are considered to not be about farming, why is it okay to have a conversation about what we do with our spare time, i.e., knitting, painting, reading, etc., as was discussed recently?  That conversation wasn't about farming.

I realize that some of the recent conversations have been bent toward the political, but it seems that everyone is being really respectful and civil with one another.  I have learned a lot through them and feel I've learned a lot about my fellow members here.

Thanks for listening!

Karen

Hello, I will bring your concerns and suggestion for an off-topic forum to the HF editors, as the decisions came from them. However, if the moderation team feels that a topic is not following our forum rules then it will be closed. Note that we do keep them visible on the Forum so that helpful and educational information is still visible. With that in mind, when trying to discuss topics make sure to include the question or twist on how they are related to hobby farming since the focus of this forum is hobby farming.
