| or have great angora rabbit links? I just lost a wonderful family member (a 14 year old rabbit) and am thinking angora rabbit(s) would make sense given my move to the country... would love more info before the committment to living with one tho

I don't have them (I have Harlequins and Lionheads) but a good friend of mine used to. His comment was "they're not a hobby, they're a lifestyle!" Lot of grooming to those little fluffballs.

| The amount of work required depends on each breed. My German Angoras don't require daily brushing, only they must be shorn twice a year. English Angoras must be brushed every day.

I raise German angoras. I use part of their wool for myself and sell the rest. Have you ever had angoras before? They are a lot different than meat rabbits. I would be glad to answer any questions you have if I can.

| I have an English Angora and a Satin Angora. My English doesn't need groomed as much as my Satin. I love them both, they are the sweetest animals.

| Thanks so much Our first angora moved in last weekend - he is a french angora - chocolate and very sweet - his disposition is ideal for us. He had a terrible mat across his back end and tail but he's been very good about letting me tease it out - I cannot believe how soft even the matted hair is .. I felt a hard lump under his jaw - the lady I got him from assures me that is just his scent gland - but i have handled a LOT of bunnies over the years and never felt one quite this hard and lumpy .. any thoughts? cheers andrea www.vareharrifarmblogspot.com

probably not a scent gland, if you can feel it... probably a jaw abscess.
They are common in some breeds... I've treated them on French, Satin Angoras and Flemish Giants.
treatable also tho...
these 2 URL's give reliable treatment techniques. if you need, ask your vet to assist.
