I am in the process of researching raising chickens. I need opinions on the two different feeds that I have discovered at my local farm store. They are Nutrena and Purina. What I would like to get opinions on is which may be the better feed or if there is really no difference between the two or if there is a better recommendation of a totally different brand of feed.
Thanks

Ok, the store I work in carries both, however I can tell you a little more about Nutrena more than Purina..

Nutrena, has recently reformulated their products to make them all natural (NOT organic), have added merigold petals to promote richer egg yolk coloration, and some other things.. (to make a more uniform Album)

(I personally have not noticed a difference in feeding the old fomula and the new formula)

The one question I can not seem to get a complete answer to is, why should we reccommend one over the other. Purina Chicken feed is a recent addition to the store. Nutrena reps tell me, that Purina is a little more expensive to cover their promotions. Purina was not represented at the conference.

It is kind of funny now that we carry "pellets" my boss got some  Naturewise pellets and her chicken (s) (she only has one or two thanks to a tom cat) won't eat the crumbles anymore...

Now that my mind is on chickens.. which Nutrena products for chickens do they carry?

Nature wise- the new formula

Country Feeds- the old fomula

I haven't tried the purina, but here it is $3-4 more, so have just stuck with the nutrena..
