Maybe I am dating myself here, but do any of you remember those old wringer washing machines for laundry? Well if you ever use one again, watch out eh?
You see my wife decided to take our/her washing machine and dryer when she left, leaving me with...well not a whole lot, but that is another story. Anyway after a few weeks of watching dirty clothes pile up, I decided I must do something about it. Now I had a clothes line and today was in the 70's with a stiff breeze, so that was my clothes dryer, but washing was another issue. Then it dawned on me that my late Grandmother had one in her cellar.
Not to be out skunked by an ex...and determined to do it myself, I dug that old wringer type washing machine out of her cellar using the tractor, set it up on the back lawn and commenced to fill it with hot water and Mule 20!!
That part went well and so my clothes, now all starched and clean had to be wrung out. I have to admit there is a touch of skill to getting a pair of jeans started in the wringer while hand cranking that gizmo. It takes some bruthe strength too to get them old wooden rollers to go after a few years of non-use. I pretty near lost my arm on one pair of jean as the rollers slipped and I had to feed the wet cotton in by hand, but I was careful and somehow still have 20 digits and 4 appendages!
Anyway I got my laundry done without having to go to the laundry mat where it would have cost me an arm and a leg for sure (pun intended), and better yet, I never even had to leave home!
As for the dating myself part, well I am 36 years old but consider myself quite the catch now that I am single again. I got sheep (pictures of my flock sent by request) and as told above, I am capable of doing laundry. Looking for shepherdess of the same vintage, (or a bit older) with washer and dryer...front loader preferred!! :-)

| Hey DB I can date myself even more than you LOL my first washer was my grandmothers wringer, that was back in the summer of "75" when I was first married to #1. I miss that old machine it did a great job on sheets. I'm almost 53 and would give an arm & a leg to own one of those machines again. Do you have the rinse tub that goes with them too? Lucky you to have one there aren't many left out there that still work, too many of them were stuck in barns & out buildings where they rusted or the wringers rotted away or both.
Lord keep you arm around my shoulder & your hand over my mouth If God brings you to it, He will see you through it 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

Hey the summer of 75...yeah I remember that year...well actually not really as I was a year old and still in diapers!!
Yeah its got the tub attachment and the wooden rollers too. I was surprised that the Amish do not use something like this, instead they use a regular washing machine like todays modern ones but it is driven by a 3hp gasoline engine instead with a shaft entering the home to power the unit and make it spin/pump.
Anyway I would snap pictures, but the wife took the digital camera too.

| I bought an electric driven wringer washer when my daughter was a baby and wearing cloth diapers. I really liked that machine, as it did an excellent job of washing clothes. Sadly, the engine burnt out on it and I then moved up to a conventional modern washer. If I come across any likely gals, I'll send 'em your way!
