I need to elaborate on this more as it seems at age 36 I should realize that the more I point at others and say, "how can they do that so foolishly", it come back to haunt me. My bushog episode has been torn apart, but its not a cheap fix; bearings, bushings, special bolts, oh my...
I get a little conceited sometimes as being a machinist I am a pretty good mechanic and can cobble stuff back together...the mechanic in the family. BUT I do apologize to HFF'er for coming on as being all that. As I said, when you start thinking others are pretty foolish for the things you do, you end up looking worse.
(Back in 2004 another Supervisor on the railroad derailed his train on the ground going over a derail. I kind of laughed about it and yet a month later I did the same thing. As I said, I should know better. Oh and for those in Missouri, I derailed on the Union Pacific Line in Gray Summit, near Washington, Missouri).

Tell a welfare recipient they must work and they call their congressman. Tell a farmer he can no longer work and he commits suicide. No wonder 1/2% of the population feeds the other 99-1/2%!!

You guys are a hoot!Heres the deal... if they are breaking stuff...they're not on the xbox, couch, computer, with loosers doing drugs, ect....... When I was a kid, I broke stuff too. Growing up on a 100y/o plus ranch with a step dad who was a product of the great depression, you got lessons in fixing stuff. When I was on my own with a new wife and baby, we didn't have much and I had to borrow tools and equipment that some how...you guessed it...broke. There were times I was SURE iffy stuff was rigged so I'd have to fix it! Now, I'm pushing 37, have FOUR yardmonster kids, and still have to fix stuff. The monsters are watching! Today I got a txt from the 14 y/o that my 4y/o daughter, the older of the twins, had to show mom how to make the air compresser in the shop work! Bottom line? I had to have been frustrating as a kid, but thank God I had the upbringing I did. I just hope I can make it stick with my own kids as well as my dad did..................

Excellent point I'll let my 18yo keep breaking things at least that way he's off the couch & Xbox LOL I never thought about it that way before but you're right if he's outside doing things he's not sitting on the couch playing his Xbox. A little later I'm going to be putting him to work helping me finish stakeing & caging my tomatoes fortunately the only things he can break doing that are the stakes or my razor knife, my hammer has a steel & fiberglass handle and he's already used that in ways it's not intended and hasn't been able to break it so far (key words here being so far LOL)
Lord keep you arm around my shoulder & your hand over my mouth If God brings you to it, He will see you through it 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'
