They all say at the co-op to use VetRx (Veterinary Remedy) for POULTRY.

Well here is the current status on my Rooster.  I have soaked the foot, I have cleaned both wounds and put Betadine on them and wrapped it and did it all again but so far it is not any better.  I will keep trying for a while longer.

I had a cornish who had a messe3d up foot. I was told they surpose to live for only 6 to 8 weeks but they was over a year old. they free range. But I had one of the cornish hens had a foot that was swelled way up wasnt different colors or nothing but she was limping and it looked like it was hurting her alot so I just took a axe to her. I took care of the problum with her and so far I havent seen any of my other chickens with that problum yet its been bout 2 months.

Is it possible it is an infection caused by scaly leg mites? I have had three chickens with bumble foot at different times. I treated all of them, two didn't make it, but one did. The last one I just rubbed antibiotic ointment on her foot until she got better. Now I really pay attention to any limping chickens. All the sore spots were on the bottom of the foot, though.

Hi,

I have read that Bumble-foot is some kind of sore they get from perching on square perches. But I could be wrong.

I have never heard of anything like this. Its eating the bone? A spider bite could be responsible, maybe a Black Widow? I hate spiders and try to stay away from them as much as possible.

It would be a good idea to show the pictures to the people on Backyard Chickens, another place is the blogs on www.crohio.com

Hope this helps.
