We have honeysuckle growing on our property. It is the upright bush type and has produced a good crop of bright red fruit. I have been told it is poisonous for humans, but I was curious if goats, chickens, or ducks can eat them. They are just outside the fenced area, but I love using the landscape to feed my animals when possible.

Send the goats in...they are smarter then we give them credit for. As long as they have enough room to graze other things, if the food in question is poisonous, they won't eat it.
Eat lamb...because 50,000 coyotes CAN'T be wrong!

| Could you post a picture?? I am only familiar with honeysuckle as the vine that grows over everything and produces yellow and white flowers that we sucked the "honey" from as kids. Don't know of one that bears red fruit and grows as a bush?? Is it an ornamental?? The honeysuckle that grows as a vine and produces flowers is one of the goats favorite foods.

I can not get a picture small enough to fit in the 512k limit.
It is an upright bush with small red berries that is supposedly very invasive. Maybe They will keep it from invading me!

| Are you sure its honeysuckle? I never heard of it producing berries or growning in any manner other than vines. Could it be sumac? Very invasive, clusters of small red berries and poisonous to us. Not sure about animals but birds eat the berries. Ken

My goats love sumac, and actually, people can suck on the berries to get sorta a citrusy sharp tang(I don't like it much ).Here are some pictures of sumac like we have.

Here is the honeysuckle that *I* am familiar with.
Help at all??
