I am wondering if anyone has any free or low-cost barn plans. I am going to build this myself (slowly), so I would like "low to medium complexity" plans. Something along the lines of a 24 X 32 footprint with a gambrel roof and a hay loft... something like this. But I am not wedded to this design. Can anyone give me some advice here (or maybe some free plans!!!) Thanks!

| ive been thinking about building a barn similiar (a little at a time) 24x32 with a gambrel roof id just set 4x6 treated posts every 8 foot along the perimiter plumb them up set in concrete cut the tops off level and fasten 2x12s inside and out horizontally on the top of the posts then set trusses 16 oc on top of that run 2x4s horizontally on the posts sheat it cut out your openings and theres a barn then on down the road you could add lean-tos off the 32 foot walls for horse stalls or whatever

This website is one I use. Its for sheep barns but since many of you suggested using gambrel roofs, some of these plans might work.

I love vegetarians...slice them real thin, dip them in ranch dressing and they compliment lamb quite well! :-)

| We bought this book, How to Build Animal Housing: 60 Plans for Coops, Hutches, Barns, Sheds, Pens, Nestboxes, Feeders, Stanchions, and Much More by Carol Ekarius (Paperback - May 1, 2004) for about $15.00 on Amazon and it has a lot of very useful information. In addition to the plans, it also has other considerations for choosing the location - things we didn't even think about like prevailing wind directions, etc. Being novices we found it very helpful! Happy hammering!
