Hey I will have too tell my wife that all the "worthless rubbish I know" actually meant something today. I am really pleased that I could help.

I really didn't know that they were that nasty to some people, Jo's (my wife) best friend was rushed into hospital when she was pregnant because she had a bean eating fettish and was scoffing raw runner (pole) beans apparently her body during the pregnancy saw this as poison and she puffed up. I didn't know this untill just now when Jo came in and I spoke to her about this.

I'm just glad that I posted this and you added the information in.

I'm calling his spec in the morning since they make his allergy shots and inquiry if this pollen needs to be added to the serum that they make for him. He gets two shots once a week. I don't think they ran any skin test on foods just shell fish and a lot of other stuff.

Spec says it wasn't per say the bean/pod but what was on it that caused the reaction. He (the Spec) requested the entire bean/pod to be sent to a lab for testing to see if they can find any trace elements on the pod. Which the test are still not available and he will call as soon as he gets them.

P2's hands are pealing and they look like a chemical burn (now) and I've been busting a gel vitamin E pill and spreading the liquid vitamin E over the spots. I also put fresh aloe over his hands at night. I am still doing the medication that was called in.

We have an appointment with the Spec on December 22nd. I will call the week before Thanksgiving and see if they've heard anything about the pod.

I guess it was a good thing I did not through it in the garbage like I said I would.

Thanks for asking.

I was going to pick up the phone and call and the nurse beat me to the punch. They still haven't received anything back yet. Something about a back log of work at the place. So, I will check when we go to the appointment in December.

Lab test.

No chemicals found on the pod. However it was suggested by the spec not to plant this bean and will consider to adding this to his allergy shot after getting a sink test done on Dec 22nd when we go and see him. Will let you all know what he says.

Both hands still pealing, the right hand is going to have a scar. We still are putting the liquid E on them. But the good news is that they don't hurt him no more. Small steps.

P2 has gone several weeks without any pain (Thank God!). He's hands have stopped peeling. Now they look like he's got pink highlighter on them. Maybe the scaring won't be that bad. Keeping fingers crossed.

Wow!  What alot of info. on fava beans. I grew them this last year, they seemed to take a long time to grow. The beans are ready to harvest when the pods drop upside down. You cook them like any dries beans. We didn't feel it was worth the space they used in the garden for the amount of beans we gained.I did notice that up until the frost they were still growing even after I had composted them in a pile???? I think they may be good as a ground cover? It sounds like they may be toxic to some people,so caution is best.
