My computer has been out of commission for a little while so I have not been to Hobby Farms.  I was actually excited thinking,  because I was away there would be new topics and discussions.  There isn't.  We need to get some new topics on here.  I come back everyday as I learn so much.  I am going to put my brain to work and think of some things maybe everyone can too.

Still love this site though

I agree with you, I have been wracking my brain to think of topics.

I have also started to look at other forums.

I hate to say it but our friend Meadow/walls kept the posts interesting???  I very rarely agreed with anything he said and frankly sometimes found it hard to break the code he used, but he did keep the topics revolving!

I actually founf both the 2FB's (two farmer boys) really hard to work out why they actually came here (this is not really a farmers forum) I also worry they have forced regulars away with the continual bikkering.

I also wonder how the management has actually kept walls away this time?

In regards to WOS...I do not think its management at Hobby Farms; it is the fact that its hunting season and he is a die hard hunter which is keeping him at bay. (I assume anyway).

As for the farmers on here, me and him get that reputation but there are actually others on here that a full time farmers as well.

As for going to other forums, I have tried that route and still do post on other forums now and then. The problem is I have sheep. When you mention living on the east coast with sheep, the people on there instantly get this image of you being a 10 acre farm with 20 sheep sponging off the USDA subsidy system. Despite telling them otherwise that is what they think. So you are ridiculed over there because my farm doesn't fit their definition of a ranch or major farm.

On the sheep list, they tend to ridicule anyone that does not farm in th exact way that they do. Pasture rotation, grass fed only, non-organic, etc. For the most part I get along over there but there is only so many times you can ask a perplexing sheep management issue and get "get rid of your flock and start over." Well that is ONE way to do it, but maybe I want to work through it rather ten take the most dire, but fastest route out.

And yet over on the tractor forum, well it started off well, but soon was taking over by suburbanites with 3 acres and a garden tractor. The sub forums about garden tractors have 30-40 new threads per day, but the farm crop sub-forum may get 10 threads per year.

So of all the forums I am accepted here the best. Ozark Jewels and I can spar over nutrition and in the wake people can take part of what I say and apply it, or take some of what she says and apply it. In the end that is what farming is all about. Listening, testing, observing and doing what is best for your farm.

I do think over time I have chased a few people away from posting, but I think a lot of people appreciate the honest information given and choose not to respond. The guest to member ratio here is staggering sometimes. I have tried a few thread starters but they seldom get replies so I have kind of given up. For instance I spent the weekend going to a Sheep and Goat Nutrition Seminar, but what kind of thread starter can I do regarding that? Or what about the harvest we just wrapped up...it was a good harvest but it utilized 1/4 million dollar tractors...no one can relate so there is no sense starting something about that. Or I just got a firewood order so I'm heading into the woods tomorrow. Its just my saw, my tractor and a winch...everything you guys would use...but what can you start a thread about that?

So I'm too small to be a "real farm", and too big to be a "hobby farm." What do you say and where do you go. Hobby Farms Forum seems to be the most friendly site of them all so I stay here...sorry it upsets you BB.

BD it doesn't upset me one little bit, in fact I think the only reason I come here regularly is to read and sometime fuel the fire of the bickering.

I respect that you know a lot of stuff that is useful to me and others here.

WOS has been banned again last week or a couple of weeks ago, I dont think he has come back since.

I do hope though that there are other reasons why Sue and Cherie seem never to contribute and Mrs KK doesn't seem to be around very much either.

I didn't know that Britboy...kind of too bad, I liked WOS and he meant well enough with his mission of enlightenment to small scale farmers. The thing is we all love what we do so its not like we are going to change. Even if 5 acre farms are fracturing the landscape making it hard to farm on large scale, its not like anyone is going to sell that homestead just because its happening. We like what we do, so we keep doing it, and that doesn't matter if you got 2 goats and an apple tree, or 100 head of dairy cows.

hey guys... I'm baaacccccckkkkk  why did I vanish... i started another business.. a magazine.  it's selling like mad and I've hired a new crew.  Also, they did block my acount, but if they haven't figured it out yet, I've got teck suport enough to debunk that any time I like...

In regaurds to your comments... I'm sure I don't come across perfectly. I have a life... I'm not going to ask my editer to look at these posts...i have two papers to keep her on and my other ventures. BUT I mean no dissrespect to anyone.

will I bust some chops....give a little back when I get some.. yes..

but my point here is to challenge this mag to tell the truth and get stuff right.  this isn't the old world. we can all be challenged.  I'm in media. I get challenges all the time. Guess what.... it make my mags better.

Love and blessings.

Walls.

Well you all should know we have other things to do......For example, I was bearly on last week due to the fair and then Pa-Pa got a new a/c tractor and yelp it's green.

Glad to hear from WOS, for a moment I'd thought you did not like us anymore.....

But I got a fox to go and tend to while P2 is watching Nova.
