| My St. Bernard (Bandit) is almost 2 and LOVES the water. We have had weeks of straight rain (which we needed so I'm not complaining about that) and our yard has turned into a lot of muddy puddles. Bandit is a disaster when I get home each day. Mud head to toe and his beautiful fur is getting matted from being wet and dry all the time. I brush him out and try and get him clean but there is not point in a bath since he is back out in it every day. My 3 other dogs may have some mud on their feet but that is it. This baby is gonna drive me around the bend cleaning this mess every day!

| That sounds like P2's Aussie (Rainy). Brother-in-law took the clippers out and gave him a cut. Don't have to worry about La-La that 4 lb of meaness. She has little to no hair and has drug her blanket and box to the front porch by the door to stay out of the wind and rain.

WE had St Bernard s growing up and I am looking for one now. They are considered a working dog breed and can guard livestock. I know Great Pyrenees are all the rage, but you guys know me, I like to do things different just to prove that it can be done.
My idea now is to get a St Bernard and have them trained to watch out for the sheep. Considering Maine's very cold climate, and the fact that a Guard Dog doesn't come into the house, I'm thinking that breeds thick coat should keep her sufficiently warm. Obviously the dog can come into the sheep shed and snuggle up with the girls too.
Eat lamb...because 50,000 coyotes CAN'T be wrong!
