ingredients:
16 oz fruit pie filling (or 1 can filling or 1 can sweetened fruit)
1 box yellow or white cake mix
1 12 oz can lemon lime soda
Margarine or butter.

In a 2 qt covered casserole dish. Dot bottom with margarine or butter, several pats will do. Pour in fruit filling. Pour in cake mix. Gently level cake mix, doesn't have to be perfect. From a height of 2 to 3 feet, slowly pour soda into cake mix evenly (all over the mix, not in one spot). The Cake mix is supposed to foam, no worries.
Place in preheated 350 degree oven, bake for about 40 min or until top is golden.
Enjoy. Great with ice cream or whipped topping.

This is how we make our peach and pear cobbler except we omit the lemon lime soda. This recipe is very simple and delicious. I will have to try it with the soda. Thanks

My mom makes a mean deep-dish cobbler!

Melt a stick of butter in the casserole dish and add a large can of cling peaches.  Mix 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of self-rising flour.  Don't worry if it is a little lumpy, just pour it on top of the peaches, spreading it around as you pour.  Don't stir or anything, just stick it in the 375 degree oven for about 45 minutes.  Tastes best when it is still warm with ice cream!

I'm astonished that on a site devoted to farming someone would actually post a recipe that calls for CANNED pie filling, a BOX of cake mix, and a can of SODA!! That's horrible. If this is the best you can do, why not just stop at a farm stand and pick up a REAL fruit dessert instead of wasting your time on this embarrassingly fake, overprocessed mess?!?

Thank you Mr. "the glass is half empty of putrid, stinking, polluted water".
This recipe is intended to be a quick and easy dessert, not high cuisine.
If you want to you can substitute home made everything (I made the blueberry filling from fresh last time) including the soda. But then it wouldn't be quick, easy, and oh yeah simple.

So, instead of throwing mud pies; What's your recipe?

YOIKES!
You have gone over the edge for a simple recipe. Did you know that those of us who live simply might use our own canned pie filling that we so lovingly put up last year? Did you know that a box of cake mix contains the very ingredients that you would add otherwise? Did you know that that the soda adds a fermentation that otherwise would require yeast (which many people are unknowingly allergic to)?

There is nothing so horrible in this recipe that you can't enjoy it. Perhaps you should look into yourself to see why you are so terrified about the ingredients. Who are you trying to convince...the world or yourself?

Cook it up...taste it..then decide. You might even be able to post that it was one of the best things that you ever ate. That's what counts.

Best Regards,
Terry
