| I've been an avid gardener for 4 years now and have always bought my small heirloom plants at our local 4H in the spring. I was hoping to start my own plants in the spring and was wondering if anyone knows of a good source for heirlooms

| Charlene - that depends on where you live. I get mine from the Maritimes - I prefer to buy from the smaller farmers/companies and get mine from Hope Seeds - Andrea is really good.

| Charlene, if you are meaning you want to start your heirlooms from seed then www.seedsavers.org will have everything you need.

| Charlene: Just type 'heirloom seeds' into yahoo or google and you will discover literally dozens of sources of heirloom seeds. Then just browse and pick out the company you like the best. That's what I did. Varieties, prices, and locations vary widely so it pays to shop around.

| Save the seeds from the plants that you grew this year.

Thanks everyone I did save a bunch of seeds from this year and I am very excited about Seed Savers, already ordered the catalog. I am so excited for the next growing season. This year my purple carrots were such a big hit with the grade school kids...I am hoping to wow them with purple potatoes next year
