If the fed govt acted within its constitutional bounds...you wouldn't have to offer incentives. Get rid of the entitlements and go back to a decent tax rate. If the govt wasn't taking almost 60% of your earnings...you wouldn't need incintives...because you would have the cash. We should be in th 5% range for taxes...that's it. To get to your point...it wasn't right then and it isn't right now. Two wrongs don't make a right.

well first of all, the tax breaks to the "robber barrons" was an incentive to spend the moeny they already had... NOT to give them money they had not earned.  See that's the diff with a tax break.  To encurage one to start another business with the money THEY have not the money I have.

Second, most don't know that our government was in such bad shape at that time, the nations wealthiest men bailed out the government.  why do you loath the wealthy?  Becouse they have more than you?  Becouse they worked harder, spent every wake'n moment to earn?

i don't care what others do with their money... just don't spend MINE on some ideas that smart investers Do not invest in.

but what would I know, 32 years old and I've got 4 profitable companies all started with less than $1,000 each no debts and never used a bank.

Funny I missed something you said that was soooo incorrect.

Oil companies can not do what ever they want to your land.  What plannet are you on?

How would I know this... I own and run and oil and gas trade news paper.
i report on these stories every day across Pennsylvaina both the pro's and cons of the industry.

the rail road answers to the oil industry BTW.  Re-read the life of rockafeller. he fixed the prices on barrel staves in Pittsburg to get even with a rail company then built his own rail cars.

But from this what happend. When rockafeller took such control 3 small producers came together to form a company that would build the longest pipe line at that time. THe line used new and inovative teck that pushed gas from Bradford Pa to Williamsport, 4 times the distance of any line of the time, and guess what.. no one knew about it till the line was done.  this priviet venture of market capitalism advanced the pipe line system as we know it, but had Rockafeller not fixed the price of Barrel staves and started a war, we may not have advanced as far as we did.  So how was the governemnt involved in that?
