I am in NW OH. We have started most of our stuff inside. We plan to move it all outside Memorial day weekend. Our pumpkins will be started in June so thay are ready in October.

I am just readjusting to life back in ND and the advice on hardiness zones and the county extension are really good. I have been so busy that I haven't gotten my seeds started and am thinking that my procrastination had a purpose this year. It has been (probably still is) a long, cold winter and because ND is such an agricultural state there is a lot of discussion about how cold the soil temps are (whether it freezes or not) and that seeds won't germinate or grow if the soil temp is too cold and you can't have them in the ground too long without germinating or they rot. (This relates to the cash crops but I am sure it relates to my radish seeds too.) so all this is meant to say...pay attention to what your winter/spring has been like also and not just the average dates. You didn't say where you live in Michigan but if you're fairly far north in the state you might want to read these publications that I printed out and used all the time when we lived in east central Minnesota.

Tomatoes and cucumbers definately put us in the mood for summer!

One of the most important things to know about when to plant -- is the planting zone and the estimated last frost dates for your area of Michigan.

Your local Cooperative Extension Service agent may have a map and or planting calendar -- check out this article on tomatoes, a general planting checklist and another with resources on knowing your zone.

If you get some specimans you're proud of later in the summer -- come back and post a picture!! We'd love to know how it goes!
