sorry I missed this wile I was on...um on my break.

My hobbies would include shooting Rebs and hunting of most any kind.

We all love music. Mike plays guitar and dobro and I play bass and mandolin. The kids all play either drums or guitar.

Well Half Caper here it is. It is kind of unique because it was built as a cradle and a toybox, so that is what she uses it now for. I put a little flat spot on the rockers so that it always returns to nuetral.

A lot of the compartments open up too so she can stuff toys inside the fuel tank, the short hood, the radiator area and the cab. Of course in the opening just behind the cab. That is where I put her as a baby. The mattress sheet is a custom fitted sheet made out of material printed with little trains.

The hardest part was making the lovetails in the drawers. They are like dovetails in that the individual hearts interlock, but since the heart shape is a complex shape, you can only do so by carving them by hand hand. Not that the dovetails matter much either, I always do my dovetails by hand too. As you can see, a lot of dovetails in this project.

I have several hobbies besides the farm. The major hobbies are:

Mountain biking: we initially bought the farm property in order to build a recreation cabin near/within an hour of some of our favorite PA trails, but we also mountain biked in SD, MT, WY, CO, ID, UT, AZ, MD, VA, DE, NJ, NY.

Bird dog training (Brittanies) & bird hunting.

You need to post a picture of that cradle, Drawbar - it sounds really special.

I am an artist - I draw detailed portraits in coloured pencil - and I've just finished an introductory acrylics course. I make traditional teddy bears out of mohair and sometimes old fur coats. I do cross-stitch. I'm learning to make soap (goat's milk, of course!).

My woodworking skills are more along the lines of hayracks and temporary stalls, and racks for rabbit cages - nothing fancy, but it works.

Great thread-starter DB - everybody loves to talk about their loves :)

Husband - woodworking (rustic furniture and picture frames from old barn boards) and guitar

Son (12)- baseball pitcher, football QB, guitar, sheep and 4-H

Daughter (7) - horses, piano

Me - bird dog training and competitive hunt tests, horses, banjo

It will be fun to see what everyone is into!

Hubby did this without any plans. Just went off what I wanted. Ma-Maw finished it. We are in the middle of remodling his Great Grand Parent's Home. I do baby blankets for the Children's Hospital in New Orleans for the Nic unit. Sorry no pics.

P2 (8) his animals, soccer and learning to drive his Pa-Pa's new tractor.

Britboy's thread about repair shops on the farm got a few replies about "woodworking as a hobby," which is one of my hobbies as well. Despite having a pretty busy workload around the farm, I try to do a little woodworking when I can.

I like to make wooden models mostly, but lately I have been getting into making really high end hand tools (polished stainless and brass), but my proudest project was my daughters cradle. Having worked for the railroad for 10 years, her cradle is in the shape of a locomotive. Complete with dovetails and lovetails, it was really special.

So what about the rest of Hobby Farm Forum members...besides hobby farming what do you do for a hobby? (pics if you have them)
