I have goats they might keep it grazed down but will not get at the roots. If it is not in a big area pouring boiling water on it this kills weeds. I have done this on the stuff that grows up between my raised flower bed and the cement driveway by my garage. If it is a big area stick with the pigs or chickens.

It doesn't get ride of the root system and the burning seems to make it come back thicker.

Keep this between you and me...thinking about getting some goats to see if they will keep it undercontrol.

That's a great ideal but will a chicken tractor hold up to a 600 pound sow using it as a scratching post?

You might try a chicken tractor (movable chicken pen) just leave the chickens in the weed area until the feather ones have ripped the plants up then just keep moving them around until the area you want cleared is done. Around here we have quack grass (roots that go every where) chickens work great for ripping them up. The chickens would take longer then the pigs but I don't have pigs. Either way is better then a bunch of chemicals.

Okay DON'T introduce pigs to the cotton field because the cotton plant will kill them. Did not know that until I drove P2 to a field day for pigs.

Can't really tell if weeds will come back, so far allowing the pigs out, mowing when grass gets over the ankles...there isn't any signs of the weed...FINGERS CROSSED.

If you figure it out. let me know. I bought some hay off a guy about 5 years ago and ended up with this crap EVERYWHERE!!! It was just in one area, now due to washing with rain, mowing and such, it is taking over. Roundup doesn't work. The plant dies but grows back, you can cut it and it comes back, donkies eat it, it comes back. It is the #1 worst weed EVER and danged thorny. Wonder if it was another "solution" devised by our ag depts to solve an issue that just went wrong. I had never seen it until five years ago and have lived here for 44 years!!

so far the patches look good, but then again we've been seening low 40's at night on top of Sunshie and Mo's rooting

Well I have found a natural way to take care of it.........by accident of course, more or less thanks to P2 getting more piglets.

Take a 5'x10' dog kennel, put (1) 6 wk old gilt and a (1) 4 wk old gilt and leave them in a spot for a week. Then move them over to give them fresh grass. Down side, they root up EVERYTHING. However I can go behind them and rack up what they dug up.

P.S. The piglets have a solar shade on top of the kennel, piece of tin to block the north wind, extra large pet taxi to call home at night and a piece of solar shade on the west. Plenty of shade for them.

The only safe spot is under their small bath tub...aka their bath tub.

Hello from Bavaria,

this is a Glyphosat-Resistant Population of Palmer Amaranth (Amaranthus Palmeri) and brings serious problems in cotton and soybean since 10 years for some States in the US, most and first in Georgia.

This Amaranth ist genetically 150 times stronger than other weed and copies more genes for encymeproduction EPSPS than RoundUp is able to kill.

I think, we have to kill this weed biotechnically, but now we are unable to do so.

If you don't mind losing the grass around it try spraying Round-up. It kind of looks like a weed I get. I have to catch it early in the growing season to do any good and it still comes back year after year. Next time you dig some up, if you have time take it to the County Ag agent. They may be able to I.D. it for you and give better tips on how to kill it.

I have mowed it over, dug it up, sprayed and it just comes back stronger each time.
